RAID configuration using StorCLI

For our Root Server Duals and the Root Server Storages Nine uses Intel Server Hardware, which have a dedicated RAID Controller Integrated RAID Module RMS25CB080.

StorCLI

To configure the hardware RAID, and to edit or monitor it afterwards you can use the tool 'StorCLI'

StorCLI is a commandline-tool to manage the LSI Controller (used to be MegaRAID Controller and the successor of MegaCLI.)

Download

StorCLI Phase 2.0 is downloadable through the Intel Download Site and is to be used as root.

The package for Debian/Ubuntu is after unpacking in the subfolder called ubuntu. For Cent0S the package can be found under Linux.

Usage

root@root-server-dual:~# cd /opt/MegaRAID/storcli

• information about every controller

  ./storcli64 show

• informations to selected controller and its configuration

  ./storcli64 /c0 show

• informations to the available hard drives and their current state (Serial Number, temperature )

  ./storcli64 /c0 /eall /sall show [all]

• informations to the available virtual drives and their current state.

  ./storcli64 /c0 /vall show [all]

• show the progress of ongoing rebuilds

  ./storcli64 /c0 /eall /sall show rebuild

• create a RAID 1

  ./storcli64 /c0 add vd type=raid1 size=10gb names=tmp1 drives=0:2-3

• create a RAID 5

  ./storcli64 /c0 add vd type=raid5 size=10gb names=tmp1 drives=0:2-6

• create a RAID 6

  ./storcli64 /c0 add vd type=raid6 size=10gb names=tmp1 drives=0:2-7

• create a RAID 10

  ./storcli64 /c0 add vd type=raid10 size=2gb,3gb,4gb names=tmp1,tmp2,tmp3 drives=0:2-3,5,7 pdperarray=2
