Order an SSL certificate
With an SSL certificate your domain is accessible via https and data is transmitted encrypted.
Certificate types
The following certificate types can be ordered through Nine:

*1: This certificate type covers the www subdomain
*2: A wildcard certificate covers a subdomain level. For example, a wildcard certificate for *.nine.ch will be valid for
docs.nine.ch, but not for dev.docs.nine.ch, because dev is a second subdomain level.
*3: This certificate type does not cover www subdomains. www have to be ordered as additional SAN
Order
In order to order an SSL certificate, further information is required in addition to the domain to be covered.
To validate a certificate, proof of ownership of the domain is required.
This proof can be provided via a DNS entry to be created or a file to be stored on the web server.
Alternatively, the certification authority can send an e-mail to one of the following e-mail addresses:
- admin@DOMAIN
- administrator@DOMAIN
- hostmaster@DOMAIN
- postmaster@DOMAIN
- webmaster@DOMAIN
The e-mail contains a link as well as a verification code which has to be entered at the certification authority.
When ordering, please specify the certificate type as well as the desired validation method in addition to the domain.

Required information for an EV certificate
If you would like to order an EV (Extended Validation) certificate, the certification authority will require additional information.
- Administrative contact in the company:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address of the contact person
- Telephone number of the contact person
- Company data (from telephone book, trade register or similar):
- Company name
- Department
- Main telephone number
- Address, canton/state, city, postal code
The certification authority may request further information in individual cases.
Please note that the issuance of an EV certificate usually takes several days.
